Andre J. LaVine

Andre J. LaVine, 82, residing in Milan, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 26, 2020 at Firelands Regional Medical Center following complications due to COVID-19.

Andre was born on July 8, 1938 in Sandusky, OH to the late Anthony William and Catherine Mary (Scally) LaVine.

Andre graduated from Milan High School in 1956 and received his Bachelor of Education from Heidelberg University. After meeting the love of his life in 1st grade, he and Kathleen were married in Holy Angels Catholic Church on November 21, 1959; just celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Andre spent his career teaching math in the Milan School Systems, Berlin-Milan Middle School and Sandusky High School. During his summers, he enjoyed working at Milan Steel. Andre was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Milan, the Edison Athletic Boosters, and the Huron Eagles. He also enjoyed coaching at Milan Schools in football, basketball and track. In his spare time, he enjoyed building and remodeling, including restoring his 1966 Oldsmobile Convertible, wintering in Bradenton, FL, watching the Cleveland Browns, and attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He loved spending time with his great-grandkids too.

Andre is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Russ) LaVine; daughter, Jean (George) Codeluppi of Milan; sons, Chris (Ana) of Fort Worth, TX and Keith (Marcy) of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Matt (Hannah) LaVine, Josh LaVine, Lauren (George) Cost, Michael (Victoria) LaVine, Kyle (Jill) Codeluppi, Ryan Codeluppi and Nicole (Korey) Robinson; great-grandchildren, Barrett, Crew, Alexandria, Coco and three on the way; sister, Barbara Rospert of Woodville; brother, William of Milan; in-laws, William and Juanita Lambert of Milan and Wilma Russ and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Andre is preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, George Rospert and Robert Russ.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 10:00 am at Milan Cemetery, 110 S. Edison Drive, Milan. Father Francis Mariadas will officiate. Burial will follow. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
