Wayne Chestner

Wayne Chestner, 71, of Vickery, passed away in his home on Sunday, August 23, 2020 after a lengthy illness.

Originally from Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Arco W. and Nancy (Keerps) Chestner.

Wayne graduated from Syracuse University, where he earned a M.F.A. in Sculpture and was a Graduate Assistant. His sculptures were exhibited at various shows throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York. Wayne was also an artist in residence at Sandusky High School. Two of Wayne's sculptures are displayed locally: one at the Veterans Memorial across from the Erie County courthouse, and the other in front of the Sandusky Yacht Club.

For 19 years Wayne and his wife, Kathy, were the owners of Chestner's Original Kettle Korn. He enjoyed hunting, cooking, auctions, and preparing Easter dinner for his extended family.

Wayne is survived by Kathy, his best friend and wife of 37 years; son, Jake Chestner, of Austin, TX; daughter, Nicole (Loren) Brockmueller, of Bellevue, OH; beloved granddaughters, Rose and Willow Brockmueller; sisters, Linda (Harold) Deiss, Marlane Westerman, and Nancy (Harlan) Hanson; and friends, Bill Anderson and Jon Huffman.

Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, August 28 at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A Celebration of Life will begin at 5 p.m. with his sister, Linda, officiating. Attendance will be limited and per Ohio regulations, face masks are required.

If desired, the family suggests donations in Wayne's memory to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior St., Sandusky, OH 44870.
