Leonard Paul Round

Leonard Paul Round, 97, of Huron, Ohio passed away on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio.

He was born March 28, 1923, in Youngstown, Ohio.

He was a 1943 graduate of Boardman High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science Commerce & Finance Degree, with a Major in Accounting from the Columbus Business University, and an Associate Degree in Industrial Engineering Technologies from Northwest Technical College.

Len was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving during World War II as a right gunner in a B29. He had twenty-two missions while stationed in Gaum.
His career after the service included work for General Dynamics/Astronautics, North American Aviation, General Electric and Rockwell International. Len had the honor of working on the Atlas Missile Program, the Apollo Program, and the B-1B Air Force Bomber Program.

After the service, Len became a pilot because he loved to fly. He owned a number of planes and was a member of the "breakfast club" at the Lorain County airport. After retirement Len enjoyed working and volunteering at the Griffing Airport and Port Clinton airports.

Len was a walker, and it was common to see him during his 2-3 miles daily laps around Huron. He was still averaging a few miles each week up until his move to the Ohio Veterans Home.

Len belonged to the Huron United Methodist Church and was a long-time member of the choir.
Len was a family man and loved working around the house. He never missed a game whether coaching, helping with statistics or cheering on the sidelines.

He is survived and remembered with love by his sons, Leonard B. Round and Christopher F. Round (and wife Linda Round); his former wife, Alice Faye Round; his grandchildren, Thomas, Anthony, Jacob, Kiely, and Joseph Round.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Pittaway Round and Marie Estelle Morris Round; his three brothers, Fred (twin), Jack and Harry; and his grandson Jordan Round. Len loved being a twin to his brother and life-long best friend, Fred Round.
