Marianne S. (Eder) Bedee

Marianne S. (Eder) Bedee, 80, of Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the Meadows at Osborn Park.

She was born on September 18, 1940 in Sandusky to Lewis and Dorothy (Ruff) Eder. She graduated from St. Mary's High School.

Marianne began her career as a cadet teacher for Sandusky City Schools. While teaching, she earned her Bachelors of Education Degree from BGSU. She received her Master's Degree in Mathematics from Boston College. Marianne taught for 35 years at all levels of education at Sandusky City Schools: primary, intermediate, junior high, high school, and later taught college. She was a professor at BGSU Firelands Campus, teaching math. She loved helping students, who found math challenging, succeed. In addition, she was a student advisor, at time advising over 100 students during an academic year. She retired in 2002.

Marianne was a previous member of the Sandusky Education Association, OEA, NEA, BGSU staff organization, and BGSU and Boston College Alumni Associations. She was quite proud of the fact that she had donated 23 gallons of blood to the Red Cross during her life. She was a member of the Oxford grange #2211 for 40 years.

Known as "The Cake lady" at Stein Hospice, the Catholic Community Supper Program, and at Crossroads, Marianne enjoyed playing cards, gardening, playing the piano, reading, math games, crocheting, cross-stitching, and most of all her beloved family. Her grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy.

Marianne is survived by her husband, Lawrence, whom she married on August 14, 1970, and with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage this year; daughter, Stephanie (Keith) Hine, of Geneva, IL; son, Matt (Deanna) Bedee, of Sandusky; and adopted daughter, Earin Beach, of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, William and Samuel Hine, Skylar and Kelsey Bedee, Danielle Goodwin, and Bryant Beach; great-grandchildren, McKinzey and Braxton Goodwin; sister, Doris Fish; brother, Edward (Kathy) Eder; brother-in-law, Lawrence Frick; and much-loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Frink; brother-in-law, Larry Fish; and brother- and sister-in-law, Jim and Cathy Bedee.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to BGSU, Firelands Campus, Scholarship Fund or The Meadows at Osborn Park.
