Cecelia Klepper

Cecelia Klepper, 97, residing in Sandusky, passed away at Providence Memory Care Facility in Sandusky, OH on December 30, 2020.

Cecelia was born on May 9, 1923 in Sandusky, OH and was the oldest of nine children of the late Carroll and Loretta (Faber) Sartor.

Cecelia was a life-long resident of Sandusky, OH. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1941, where she was active in the drum and Bugle Corps. She was a devout and loving wife and mother who extended kindness and love to everyone she met, and volunteered at many charitable organizations and efforts. She remained very active as a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She will be deeply missed by her entire family.


Survivors include her only son, Mark (Sally) of Avon Lake, OH and her daughters, Rebecca (Gene) Pietra of Whitehall, MD, Patricia (John) Schroeder of Indianapolis, IN, Maribeth (Paul) Greger of Gahanna, OH, and Jacqueline (Dean) Riedy of Sandusky, OH. Cecelia leaves behind eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Richard Sartor of Canton, MI, Sr. Francine Sartor, OSF of Tiffin, OH, Elaine Jesberger of Tiffin, OH, Ronald Sartor of Grosse Pointe, MI, Sr. Dionne Sartor, OSF of Tiffin, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

Cecelia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl (July 19, 1992) whom she married on August 23, 1947; brothers, Carroll "Jay" Sartor, Paul Sartor, and Fr. Alfred Sartor OFM Conv.


A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 11, 2020 at 10:00 am. Family and friends may view services via Facebook Live on the Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory Facebook page. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when it is safe for family and friends to gather.

The Klepper family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Providence Memory Care and Stein Hospice for the wonderful love and care they gave to Cecelia.
