Ruth Marie (Chaffee) Sebolt

Ruth Marie (Chaffee) Sebolt, 72, of Milan, passed away Friday evening, January 8, 2021, at Fisher Titus Medical Center, following a battle with cancer.

Ruth was born on June 2, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Ruth (Slota) Chaffee and the late Arthur Chaffee.

Ruth attended Milan High School through 11th grade, and moved her senior year. She graduated from Western Reserve High School in 1966, and married her soulmate, Don, on June 10, 1967. This past year they celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren called her "Sweetie" and she always had a smile for everyone she met. She enjoyed working at the Milan Museum, and talking to all the visitors. Ruth never met a stranger. She made everyone feel welcome. She loved antiquing, and owned a shop in her homes for many years (1848 House and Red Salt Box). She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Milan where she served as a sacristan and was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Most of all, Ruth adored her family. "Sweetie" loved attending her grandsons' music and sports activities through the years, and was so proud of their accomplishments. She had a sweet and kind spirit, and will be greatly missed.

Ruth is survived by her mother, Ruth Chaffee of Milan; her sons, Don Sebolt, Jr. and Todd (Tracie) Sebolt, both of Milan; her grandchildren, Nathan and James Sebolt, both of Milan; her brother, Art (Jo) Chaffee of Milan; her sister Carol (Denny) Conry and brother Mick Chaffee, both of Norwalk; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Chaffee, and her husband, Don Sebolt, Sr. Don just recently passed away on June 22, 2020.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be a private funeral for family only. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Milan, Ohio with Reverend Francis Mariadas officiating. Inurnment will follow in Milan Cemetery, Milan. For those that would like to view the Funeral Mass it will be live-streamed on St. Anthony's Facebook page or from their website milanstanthony.org.

Those wishing to contribute to Ruth's memory may do so to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 145 Center St., Milan, OH 44846 for their church renovation projects.
