Mary Amison

Mary Amison, 85, Sandusky, departed this life surrounded by her family on Friday, January 29, 2021, at her residence.

She was born on January 13 1936, to the late John and Maude Lee Johnson in Meridian MS, and she was the eighth of 10 children.

She united with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Gene Brookins.

Mary moved her family to Sandusky, Ohio in 1969. She later joined the Providence Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Eddie J. Brown and served faithfully on the Usher Board for over 47 years. In her years at Providence, she also served on the Pastor's Aide, Mother's Board, Missionary Circle, and her favorite, the Kitchen Committee. She was also a faithful member of Church Women United.

In 1977, Mary united in Holy Matrimony with Cornelius (Dee) Amison and to that union two children were born.

Mary worked at Cedar Point, for several years, Sawmill Creek, CAC and the Cultural Awareness Center.

Mary loved to cook, shop, travel, and spend time with her family, especially during family dinners.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Eddie (Bo) Fisher, Fremont, Anthony (Tony) Fisher, Maurice (Brittany Lash) Wilson, and Marco Cornell Amison, Sr., all of Sandusky; daughters, Dianne (Angel) Rodriguez, LaGrange, KY, Gerld Lean Johnson, Sandusky, Lora (Leon) Cooley, Avon Lake and Tracy (Albert Williams) Amison, Sarasota, FL, 59 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and eight step-children, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends..

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Minnie Pearl Jordan, Ilean Grant, Louise Pettigrew and Dorothy Hicks; brothers, Jessie Johnson, Bennie Johnson, L.C. Johnson, J.M. Johnson and Charlie Johnson; daughter, Mary (Jacqueline) Fisher; grandchildren, C.J. Stanford, Christine Stanford and Tonya Johnson; her favorite sister-in-law, Nettie Johnson.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Avenue, Sandusky, The Reverend Dr. Scottie L. Aaron, Mary's grandson, will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
