Mother Mamie L. Pettis

Mother Mamie L. Pettis, 93, Sandusky, passed on to glory peacefully in her sleep Friday, October 15, 2021.

She was born on April 4, 1928, in Silver Cross, Alabama, to the late Walter and Mary (Washington) Cunningham.

She later moved to Sandusky where she met the love of her life Ernest Pettis whom she married and together they shared six children. She cared for him lovingly and faithfully until the day of his passing.

Mother Pettis impacted our community as a charter member of Agape Love Ministries, where she served for over 30 years. She was a member of the Mother's Board, Pastor's Aide, Kitchen Committee and a member of the Financial Board. Most importantly she was an intercessory for the Kingdom of God.

Mother Pettis was well-known for her wisdom, prophetic words and healing hands. Not to mention her great cooking which will be dearly missed.

Mother Pettis held many positions during her life's journey. She worked for Barr Rubber, Dekco, Brown Derby, Providence Hospital and General Motors.
Mother was loved by all that knew her. With a sweet, quiet spirit she made it easy for so many to do.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Willie Pettis, Ron Pettis, Kenneth (Marlene) Pettis, Johnny Pettis, Arleen (Earl) King, Michelle Pettis Alexander; loving sister, Ermie Turner all of Sandusky; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Pettis; son, Mark A. Pettis; grandson, Windell Keith Bray; parents; brothers, Cola Tarelton and Walter Cunningham Jr.; sisters, Beleva Cunningham, Dinah Catlett, Katie Nickelson, Annie Williams, and Mary Lee Johnson; and son-in-law, Christopher T Alexander.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Agape Love Ministries, 4013 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Bishop Clifton T. Jones Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
