Nan "Sam" Conrad

Nan "Sam" Conrad, 94, residing in Sandusky passed away Monday morning, October 18, 2021 at Providence Care Center following a brief illness.

Nan was born on February 6, 1927 in Leslie County, KY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Cora (Begley) Stidham.

Following her move to Hamilton, OH, she met the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Conrad. They were married on August 21, 1956 and would go on to have 52 wonderful years together. Nan was truly devoted to her job at Markley's Restaurant which she retired from at the age of 82 years old. Prior to working at Markley's, she worked at Kresge in downtown Sandusky. Nan had many things she enjoyed doing throughout her life. Some of her favorites included being a wonderful aunt and great aunt to all her nieces and nephews, staying up on the latest fashions, sunbathing, cooking for her family, especially holiday and birthday celebrations, she loved to share her gift as a seamstress by quilting, tailoring, as well as designing and sewing a beautiful wedding dress for her beloved sister "Ellie" Weedman, spending time with the love of her life, family, and friends at the Amvets and Cameo. Nan was also a great "dog mom" to her fur babies. Nan was most relaxed when she had a Coca-Cola in one hand and a Virginia Slim in the other hand. Nan and Dick opened their home to friends and family at any time needed. They hosted an annual Christmas party which her family often looks back on and smile remembering the many shenanigans!

Nan is survived by two sisters, Madge Wohlgemuth, Krypton, KY, and Joann (Bill) Howard, Buckhorn, KY; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Melton and Frances Stidham, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews in Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky. She is also survived by her "fur baby Lilbit".

Including her parents, Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" W. in 2008; sister, Ellie Weedman in 2021; four brothers, Asberry "Berry" "Red", John, Roger "Pete", and Farris Stidham; brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Weedman in 1995; niece, Teresa Wooten in 2011; great niece, Erica Lynn Rippon and great nephew, Kenneth Rucker Jr.

The family would also like to thank next door neighbor, Mike Canfield, for his devoted neighborly care and dedication to Nan's well being all these years.

Friends may call on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Tony Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
