Stephan "Steve" L. Biggs

Stephan "Steve" L. Biggs, 69, of Amherst passed away peacefully on Sunday November 7, 2021 in his home after a lengthy illness. Steve had recently entered hospice care after a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease.

Steve was born in Marion, OH on May 20, 1952 to the late Kenneth Leroy and Augusta Mae (Haase) Biggs.

He was a 1971 graduate of Sandusky High School. Steve worked his early years with his good friend, the late Bruno Lizzi, at Star Lanes, then retired from General Motors as a skilled tradesman in Tool and Die.

Steve was a member and attended Henrietta United Methodist Church in Amherst. In 1998 he married the love of his life, Sally. For years they enjoyed their love of boating, traveling with friends to the area islands and up the Detroit River into Michigan and Canada. Steve and Sally enjoyed perch fishing together, and could be found every summer weekend-staying on their boat on the waters of Lake Erie. When he could no longer captain his boat due to illness, Steve got much joy spending time with his grandchildren at Cedar Point where he and Sally worked as teenagers, and docked their boat as proud members of PTYC.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sally A (Mautz) Biggs; stepchildren, Rachel and Jay; their children, Dylan, Ethan, Madeleine, Evelyn, Kate, and Ryan; sister, Sharon (Biggs) Semrau; late sister Barb's husband, John McCloskey; niece, Theresa; and nephews, Eric, Scott, Troy, and Brian. He is also survived by his aunts, Emma, Donna, Delores, and late Uncle Carl's wife, Janet.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara (Biggs) McClosky; and nephew, Keith Wollf.

Per Steve's wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no memorial service. The family plans a future Celebration of Life gathering. Memorial contributions may be made to Henrietta United Methodist Church, 52148 St. Rt 113, Amherst, OH 44001.
