Barbara Sue Linden

Barbara Sue Linden, 75, residing in Huron, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

She was born on September 14, 1946 to Paul and Florence Stiver and grew up on Middle Bass Island with her three sisters and one brother.

At age 12 the family moved to Sandusky where she attended Sandusky Junior and Senior High Schools. It was in Sandusky that she met her first husband, Allen Butts. It was with him that she had two daughters and a son. The family moved to Fremont in 1974 where she was a homemaker, then seamstress at Infant Items. Her heart was always in Sandusky and she followed it, taking along her children, back to Sandusky in 1983. It was here that she was a caregiver for her parents and continued to raise her children.

Barbara worked at Cedar Point then local security firms. It was at this time she met and married Harold Linden. They loved attending NASCAR races to watch Jeff Gordon. They were members of the Ohio Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Barbara loved riding in the sidecar as they put many-a-mile under their helmets. In between her races and travels she worked at Form PAC as a Lead until retiring. Sadly, Harold preceded her in death. She then began attending Wayside Temple where she was greatly loved. She also became very involved with the Erie County Senior Center where she met some of her dearest friends. They met regularly for Bingo, Bible Studies, and other activities. As a resident of Muirwood Apartments she enjoyed weekly "coffee meet" with her neighbors. She missed her friends deeply as COVID kept them apart.

Barbara is survived by her children, Patty Hopple, of Pigeon Forge, TN, Paula Butts (Alton Sewell), of Fostoria, OH, Scott (Gina) Butts, of Jasper, FL, and "son," Rick Hopple, Sr.; sisters, Charlotte Oates, of Norwalk, OH and Helen (Henry) Holzapfel, of Chesapeake VA; brother, Charles Stiver, of Jenson Beach, FL; grandchildren, Rick, Jr. (Tabitha) Hopple, Jessica (Kody) Wurzel, and Athena Willow Butts; as well as four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Mildred Susan and Florence Mae (Duane) Mace.

A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Wayside Temple, 3809 Maple Ave., Castalia, OH.
