Hildegard Peterman

Hildegard Peterman, 93, of Sandusky, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2022 at Parkvue Healthcare Center. The world lost an amazing woman.

She was born Hildegard Wodara Hake in Hanover, Germany on April 22, 1928 to the late Karl and Rosalia (Wodara) Heinz.

By age 16 she was working as a nurse's aide. During World War II she worked in a Munich Hospital. After the war, she met Kenneth Peterman who was a US Army soldier serving in Munich. They married in 1946 and had their first child in Germany. In 1947 they were living in America. She left behind a large family which included six younger siblings.

Hildegard retired from the Ohio Veterans Home in 1989 after 25 years of service. She was a devoted LPN that went above and beyond to serve her patients and coworkers. After retiring in her 80's, she continued working in other jobs for several more years.

She loved God and served Him with an uncommon loving compassion for others. She was a member of St. Stephen's UCC in Sandusky, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, and spending time with her family. She had an unusual loving heart for children as well as pets.

In her later years, she was known to many as a beloved grandmother. Truly! Truly! God used her life to make the world a kinder and more loving place. Praise and thanksgiving to God who graced our lives with this beautiful person. Surely she is with Him in Glory.

Hildegard is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Tom) Osborne; son, Glenn (Karen) Peterman; grandchildren, Scott Hauke, Jean Auberzinsky, Brian Osborne, Matthew Peterman, Michael Peterman, Julianne Peterman; and many great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Peterman; daughter, Hildegard Reiman; and great-grandson, Cameron Owens.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 31from 10 A.M. until funeral services begin at 11 A.M. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Jerald Fenske will officiate. Entombment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Hildegard's name to one's favorite charity.
