Marilyn Collier

Marilyn Collier, age 81, of Norwalk passed away Sunday, March 04, 2012 at Gaymont Nursing Center.

She was born December 2, 1930 in Norwalk to the late Harold and Beatrice (Lamm) Collier. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1948 and from Ohio University in Athens, OH in 1954.

She taught school for five years and then worked for George F. Linn, M.D. prior to working for the Huron County Health Department, as the Registrar of Vital Statistics until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Norwalk and served as a Deacon, member of the Women's Association, Bell Choir and was a Stephen Minister. She enjoyed bowling as a young woman and was a member of several local leagues. She volunteered at the Senior Enrichment Services, and was a member of the Age Exchange Program, Habitat for Humanity, and was Secretary for the local P.E.R.I. group.

She is survived by her siblings, Charles (Alice) Collier of Beaverton, OR, John (Jackie) Collier of Santa Barbara, CA, and Beverly (Jack) Carstensen of Norwalk; four nephews, three nieces, three step-nephews and one step-niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a niece, Susan Armstrong and a nephew, James Hakes.

Friends may call on Thursday March 8, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd, Norwalk with the Rev. Adrian N. Doll officiating. Interment will follow at Hester Cemetery.
