William "Bill" A. LaVine
July 23, 1931 - June 9, 2022

William "Bill" A. LaVine, 90, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday evening, June 9, 2022 at Ohio Veteran's Home.

Bill was born on July 23, 1931 in Sandusky, OH to the late Anthony and Catherine (Scally) LaVine.

His family moved to Milan in 1933. He attended the old Milan School from 1937 to his graduation in 1949. Bill attended the Ohio State University from 1950 to 1952, before serving in the US Army at Fort Sill, OK from 1952 to 1954. Bill was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He also served on the Milan Village Council and was a member of the Rotary Club. Bill worked construction most of his life, having retired from Mosser Construction in Fremont. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, music and dancing. For the past 20 years he enjoyed spending his winters in Florida.

Bill is survived by the mother of his children, Mary Ann (Suda) LaVine, whom he married in 1957. He is also survived by his children, Lisa (Kerry) Westcott of Berlinville, OH, Diane Mesenburg of Milan, Elaine (George) Van Dootingh of Norwalk and Andrew LaVine of Milan; grandchildren, Dr. Allison (Brandon Ralston) Westcott, Lindsay Westcott, Jason (Kym) Mesenburg, Heather (TJ) Baker, Hannah (Tyler) Moehlman, Benjamin Van Dootingh and Matthew Van Dootingh; great-grandchildren, Eliza, Eva, Noah, Liam, Brock, Brody, Sawyer and Tristan; sister, Barbara Rospert; sister-in-law, Kathleen LaVine and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony W. LaVine and brother, Andre LaVine.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory Milan Chapel, 1 S. Main St., Milan. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 145 S. Center St., Milan. Father Francis Mariadas will officiate. Burial will follow in Milan Cemetery, Milan.
