Stan Greene

Stan Greene, 75, of Castalia, died Wednesday, June 15, 2022, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

He was born August 6, 1946, in Lake City, TN, and was a 1964 graduate of Margaretta High School where he was a standout quarterback.

After high school, Stan proudly served his country in the Vietnam War in the 9th Infantry of the U.S. Army. He was awarded the prestigious Purple Heart medal in addition to the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and the Expert Sharpshooter Medal. A fighter until the end, Stan will always be our HERO.

On November 16, 1968, Stan married the love of his life Carol, and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage shortly before her death in 2018. In the winter months Stan and Carol enjoyed their 2nd home in Bradenton, FL, where they made a lifetime of new memories.

In 1974, he purchased his father's construction business, Greene Construction, which he owned and operated until retiring in 2014. Stan had an extraordinary talent of turning peoples dreams into reality and mastered every home he built or any project he touched. You would often find him in his workshop tinkering with new projects and was always up for a new challenge. Known to many as "Stan the Man". He was a master of carpentry.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and also volunteered his time to Project Share alongside Carol. As a very active member of the Castalia Lions Club, Stan spent countless hours helping to build and maintain Lions Park, to create the beautiful complex so many kids enjoy today. Stan was designer of the Veterans Memorial Wall in Castalia, a project that he was not only proud of , but near and dear to his heart.

Of all the accomplishments in his life, Stan was most proud of his family. His three grandchildren were the joy of his life and was the best Poppie anyone could have asked for. He was the most loving son, son-in-law, husband, father, Poppie, brother, brother-in-law, and friend. His sense of humor, love of life, and compassion will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Stan is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Craig Jess); grandchildren Gabryel, Brayden, and Jaxon; brothers Joe (Carol) Greene, Wally (Joyce) Greene, Raymond (Sheri) Greene, Kenny (Kelly)Greene, Karl Greene, Ronnie (Nancy) Greene, and Bill Greene; sisters Shirley (Mark) Miller, Louise (Joe) Limberios, Margaret (Ron) Quillin, Jean (Bill) Ohlemacher, Wanda (CJ) Greene, Darlene (Chuck) Coy, Belinda (Will) Hoffman; mother-in-law Marie Severance; brother-in-law Joe (Donna) Severance; and many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and colleagues.
