Richard (Dick, Dickie) Keith Wynkoop

Richard (Dick, Dickie) Keith Wynkoop, 83, was born on June 23, 1939 and peacefully went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2022 after a valiant year long fight with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Born in Vickery to his late parents, George and Wilma Wynkoop, Dick was 1957 graduate of Townsend High School and attended Bowling Green State University.

He was a member of West Hartland United Methodist Church for many years. His faith was integral to his way of life. He did not miss church, attended Bible studies, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and helped out in any way he could.

He is survived by his wife Dottie of 53 years; daughter, Sheri (Billy Thomas); daughter, Veronica "Ronnie" (Chris Meyer); son, Jeff (Rebecca Hoffman); daughter, Sally Hardie and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Lloyd and Bill Wynkoop along with his sister, Judi Lambrite.

Dick worked at Kroger and Good Year Tire in his early years and then eagerly retired from Ford Motor Company after 30-plus years. He continued to "work" helping a friend with farming and delivering parts for Napa. In his retirement, he found his true calling at Sheri's Coffee House as "The Muffin Man", "Parking Lot Monitor", and "The Delivery Guy." Many a day, he could be found imparting his wisdom to anyone he came across in Norwalk.

His hobbies included acting in local plays, talking to everyone in his path, walking (and counting his steps), traveling, fishing (at least talking about going fishing), and attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events where he vocally let every ref know when they made the wrong call. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan until recently when visiting his daughter in Hilton Head. Dick became a Braves fan and appreciated their lack of name change unlike that other baseball team. He was an American history buff and especially enjoyed the Native American Indians and Civil War period. He participated in many Relay for Life Events and also volunteered at the Norwalk Area food bank.

A celebration of Life gathering will be held, Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home, 314 East Main St., Norwalk, OH.

The family appreciates any donations in Dick's memory to be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital www.stjude.org
