Shirley Ann Eckert

Shirley Ann Eckert, 87, residing in Norwalk, passed away Monday evening, November 21, 2022, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Shirley was born on January 9, 1935, in North Fairfield, OH, to the late Virgil and Mary (McFarlin) Steele.

She graduated from Norwalk High School and was employed as a phone operator and as a refinisher for a photography shop. Shirley was an active member of First Baptist Church in Norwalk since 1979. She enjoyed her years as a homemaker taking care of her family. In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed cooking, gardening, going to church, and spending time with her family, especially babysitting her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Robert L. Eckert; 4 sons, Robert Eckert of Norwalk, Tracy Eckert of Michigan, Randy Eckert of Tiffin, and Chad Eckert of Norwalk; grandchildren, Jackie Francis, Holly King, Randy Lee Eckert, Jared Eckert, Christopher Eckert, Jennifer Eckert, and Tatum Eckert; great-grandchildren, Zander King, Zane King, Lily Francis, Donovan Francis, Noah Eckert, and Aurora Eckert; and sibling, Keith Kline.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Todd Eckert; grandsons, Jordan Eckert, and Jason Eckert; sisters, Pat Tester, and Lois Steele, and brother, Kenneth Kline.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. The funeral service will be in the funeral home on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 11 am. The burial will follow at North Fairfield Cemetery.
