Richard J. "Dick" Ferback

Richard J. "Dick" Ferback, 93, Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 21, 2022

He was born on May 21, 1929 in Sandusky to the late John and Lydia (Baus) Ferback and was a 1947 graduate of Sandusky High School.

Dick was in the Army serving in the 520th QMC, during the Korean War.

Dick devoted his life to Christ and his family, he was the most amazing, selfless, gracious, loving husband, father and grampy, that was always happiest when he was with family. He never met a stranger, always had a smile on his face, and loved to joke.

He worked several jobs supporting his family, Coca Cola Driver in Sandusky, Fuller Brush Co., Sears Roebuck when it was in downtown Sandusky, Perkins Drive Thru, Ford Motor Company, where he was called the Watch Man for fixing and selling watches, and Corso's Flower and Garden Center, after retiring.

He was a devoted member of Faith Church, where he was treasurer/ assistant treasurer for over 25 years, sang in the choir and played dartball in the lutheran dartball league, for Zion Lutheran Church, Resurrection Lutheran Church and Faith Church. Dick was known as Dad to many and admired by many of the men at church. He volunteered for the Salvation Army and was a money counter for the kettles, member of the Ford retirees local #1216, loved playing baseball and softball, collecting football and baseball cards, fixing everyone's Christmas lights, working in the yard, and reading his Bible..

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, May 29, 1954, Elinor (Ortner) Ferback; children, Jeff (Cheryl) Ferback, Sandusky, Jodie (Scott) Thomson, Sandusky, and Jenny Ferback, Huron; grandchildren, Melissa Ferback, Beth Ferback, Alex (Sarah) Thomson, Abbey (Chris) Campanelli, John Ferback, and Adam Koelsch; great-grandchildren, Anthony Koelsch, Colten Thomson, Madison Thomson, Drake Campanelli and Blakely Campanelli; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Ellynn Koelsch.

Friends may call on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 3-7 P.M. in Faith Church, 1320 E. Strub Rd., Sandusky. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 11 A.M. in Faith Church. Rev. Tom Groot and Rev. Ken Hiser will officiate. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
