Ruth Sehlmeyer

Ruth Sehlmeyer, 88, of Sandusky passed away Wednesday, March 14th, 2012 at Providence Care Center surrounded by loving family.

She was born April 1, 1923, in Sandusky, Ohio, and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1941. She married Harold Sehlmeyer on October 11th, 1952. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Sandusky and was employed by Frankel's, Apex, Klaus Oldsmobile Cadillac, Westvaco, and the Sandusky Boat Line. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she pioneered the Jail Ministry Group and Friends Group, served on the Memorial Committee, and wrote the "Trinity Tidbits" for the church newsletter for 20+ years. She was also active for many years with the Old House Guild, Follett House Museum, Friends of the Boeckling, Maritime Museum member, Sandusky Alzheimer's support group, Amvet's Auxiliary, and the SHS Orchestra Parents.

She is survived by her children, Julie Dendinger, Melissa Creston, and Joel (Angie) Sehlmeyer; her grandchildren Jason (Cindy), Jessica, Jodi (Michael) Sehlmeyer-Satterfield, Christian Dendinger (Dayna Hollier), Sibyl Dendinger, Abigail Creston, and Gabrielle Creston; her great grandchildren Hannah Dendinger, Lily Hollier, and a great granddaughter due in May, as well as her former daughter-in-law Joyce (Ruffing) Sehlmeyer, her brother Carlton Douglas (Ellen) Bruns and a niece Karen Bruns-Stevenson.

She is also survived by her close friends: Barbara Wendt, Phyllis Hime, Mary Eloise Evans, Pamela (Hannan) Koons, and Martha "Marty" (Hannan) Garber.

Ruth was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and church member and will truly be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents Carlton Bruns & Sibyl (Knoll) Bruns Densmore; her step-father: William Carl Densmore; a brother in infancy, Arthur Bruns; and her husband Harold Sehlmeyer.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Trinity United Methodist Church, 214 E. Jefferson Street, Sandusky, Ohio. The Rev. Robert Machovec will officiate.
