Charles LaMar Moore

Charles LaMar Moore, 60, of Sandusky made his eternal transition on December 4, 2022 at his residence.

He was born May 28, 1962 in Sandusky to Doris L. Moore and James L. Green, both deceased. LaMar, as he preferred to be called, was raised by his grandmother, the late Bessie Mae Stone, with whom he resided as a child.

LaMar accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age and became a member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church. LaMar loved studying God's word and no matter what was going on in life he did not mind sharing God's word with you. A 1980 graduate of Perkins High School, LaMar also attended the EHOVE Career Center where he earned his certification in electronics.

LaMar continued his education at Bell Howell (DeVry) where he received a degree in electronics. He further attained an Associate's Degree from Bowling Green State University, Firelands. LaMar worked in the electronics field for several years.

LaMar received his CDL and became a truck driver. He drove for several companies, with Dutch Maid Logistics in Willard, Ohio being his most recent employer. LaMar was a family man and friendly neighbor who was well loved in his community. LaMar enjoyed good conversations. He was full of jokes and made you laugh until you cried. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved weightlifting and martial arts. LaMar was a huge Cleveland Browns fan. He had a passion for cooking and feeding people. He was known to many as the "BBQ Man." LaMar would set up his grill pit anywhere anyone allowed him to, and made the best ribs and barbeque sauce this side of town!

A family man, Lamar held authentic love for his family. Lamar had married Vona Ali and to this union was born his son, Hassan. LaMar was proud to be a father and trained up his son in the word of God.

Lamar leaves to cherish his memory one son, Hassan Moore, of Sandusky; three sisters, Charlotte Doster, of Grove City, OH; Sonya (Carlton) Walker, of Milwaukee, WI; and Brigitte Green (Harold) Churchwell, of Sandusky; two brothers, Tracy Doster, of Ontario, OH and Michael Green, of Sandusky; God sisters, Charlayne "Charlie" (Semon) Johnson and Chelissa Conway, both of Sandusky; and God brother, Craig Conway, of Sandusky; stepmother, Marjorie Green Taylor, of Sandusky; aunts, Letha Fiske, of Columbus, OH, Emma Moore and Cathreen Jones, both of Sandusky, and Helen (Curry) Burriss, of Anderson, SC; uncles, Herman (Vera) Moore and Samuel Taylor, both of Sandusky, and Sylvester (Kym) Green, of Baltimore, MD; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Robert Moore, Sr. and Bessie Mae (Moore) Stone; paternal grandparents, Wes and Crenell ‘Queenie' (Norris) Green; sisters, Cathy Blissit and Jaime Bracken; brother, Scott V. Green; aunts, Rozina DeVese, Odessa Calloway, and Seretha Taylor; uncles, Robert ‘Cobb' Moore, Jr., Samuel Fisk, Sr., and John Green; and God mother, Evelyn Conway.

The homegoing services for LaMar will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky under the Pastorate of Joseph Strong. The family will receive acknowledgements at the home of his stepmother, Marjorie Green Taylor, 1615 Pierce St., Sandusky, OH 44870.
