Larry "Bear" Schlessman

Larry "Bear" Schlessman, 80, of Huron, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the Stein Hospice Care Center.

He was born July 15, 1942 in Sandusky the son of the late Wilma (Mitchell) and Arthur Schlessman. A 1960 graduate of Sandusky High School, Larry was a farmer and shareholder in the Schlessman Seed Co.

Larry was a lifelong member of St John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Rockwell Trout Club. He was a loving and caring family man; proud grandpa and enjoyed attending his grandkids sporting events.

He was a forever Cleveland Indians Fan and Ohio State fan. Larry was the longtime manager of the Schlessman Seed softball team. He played dart ball in both Erie and Huron County leagues. But nothing was better than spending time with his family, especially if it included playing pinochle or euchre.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dawn (Moosbrugger) Schlessman, whom he married August 30, 1992, daughter, Julie (Mark) Skaggs of Avon Lake, OH, grandchildren, John, Lauren & Sarah, brother, John (Lori) Schlessman of Sandusky, sisters, Ann (David) Voight & Joyce (Daryl) Deering both of Sandusky and Sally (Pat) Davie-Kelley of Huron.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son Joe Schlessman in 2010.

Friends may call 3-7pm, Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Memorial Service will be conducted 11am, Friday, January 20, 2023 at St John's Lutheran Church, 106 Scheid Road, Sandusky, with Rev. Stacy Lauer-Scovanner officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Larry's name to St John's Lutheran Church.
