Sierra DeQuale Keys

Sierra DeQuale Keys, 31, of Columbus, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2023 after battling cancer that aggressively progressed into leukemia.

Sierra was born on Jan. 30, 1991 in Sandusky.

She graduated from Whitehall-Yearling High School. Sierra had an executive mind and was a person fond of numbers. She was pursuing her accountant degree at Columbus State Community College. She desired to finish her associate degree and transfer to The Ohio State University to achieve her BA. In her spare time, Sierra had a remarkable way of expressing herself through drawing and painting. She loved to draw portraits of her family and cartoons that expressed her emotions. Family was a place of comfort. Sierra was the individual who reached out to every family member. The most memorable location in Sierra's life was the Sandusky pier, her place of solitude. As an introvert, it gave her rest and tranquility. Sierra's family will remember her as a brilliant mind, unique, and unashamedly her own person.

Sierra is survived by her mother, Cindy M. Ulery; father, Greg T. Keys I; brother, Greg T. Keys II; sister, Nicole A. Ramey; brother, Alnathan W. Keys; and sister, Ta'Tyanna D. Keys; grandparents, uncles, aunts, nephews and cousins.

Sierra was preceded in death by her grandfather, Alnathan Keys; cousin, Whitney E. Keys; and great-grandmother, Bonnie S. Edgington.

Friends and family may call on Thursday, Jan. 19 from 10 A.M. until funeral services begin at 12 P.M. at Porters Memorial C.M.E. Church, 1722 Third St., Sandusky.

Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is handling arrangements.
