Fr. Deacon George C. Biecheler

Fr. Deacon George C. Biecheler, 95, of Tiffin passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the St. Francis Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Tiffin.

George was born November 10, 1927 on St. George Island the son of George and Lydia Biecheler. He resided on the island until the age of 13 when he moved to Sandusky.

He attended and graduated from Sandusky High School. He attended the University of Illinois and served in the United States Army Air Corp for four and a half years. During his time in the service, he served on the Weather Recon Service and later became a member of the Air Weather Recon Association.

George was a member of the National Rifle Association, and a life member of the Four County Conservation Club. Later in life, George earned a master's degree in theology and served as a Deacon in the Orthodox Church. He retired as a monument engraver and was a member of the Catholic Cemetery Association.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry L. Cheek; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 28 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Kobler.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Heiberger) Biecheler; son, Bradd Biecheler; daughter, Barbara James; grandson, Brian Biecheler; granddaughters, Titiana (Ani) Cheek-Cruz, and Teena S. Hall-Taylor; son-in-law, Carl Cheek; and sister, Betty Gow.

Friends will be received on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 10 a.m. until a funeral service begins at Noon at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, Ohio. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
