Melvin L. Weltle

Melvin L. Weltle, 79, residing in Sandusky, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Parkvue Health Care Center after a brief illness.

Melvin was born on June 16, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Chester William and Violet (Rettig) Weltle.

Melvin proudly served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Melvin then joined the Teamsters while working for Sandusky Butter and Egg. He finished his career working for Carmelo Ruta, Inc. for 20 years, retiring in 2006.

He is survived by his sons, Marcus Weltle, and Matt (Nicole) Weltle; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Weltle; grandchildren; Hannah, Trevor, Sophia, Layla, and Kayanna (Tom Puliafico) Schuh; great-grandson, Griffin; brother, William (Judy) Weltle; and former wife, and mother of his children, Carol Reiman.

In addition to his parents, Melvin is preceded in death by his son, Melvin D. Weltle; sisters, Vicki Miller and Shirley Leitz; and brother, James Leitz.

Friends may call on Sunday, February 26, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky, where military honors will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. by American Legion Post 83, Sandusky.
