Charles C. Lay, Sr., 85, of Sandusky, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012 in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born on April 23, 1926 in Harrodsburg, KY to the late Mary Naomi Wright and William Robert Lay.
He attended Westside High School in Harrodsburg, KY, and moved to Sandusky in 1948 with his late wife, Mary Helen Hunn Lay.
Charles was a 33rd degree mason.
Charles is survived by his three children, Charles Lay, Jr., of Sandusky, Deborah (Willie) Jackson-King, of Chicago, IL, and Richard Lay, of Columbus, OH; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Calvin Lay, Jackie Lay, Jerry Lay, Beverly Lay, Patricia Paul, Linda Lay, Wanda Lay, and Wilma Lay.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; nephew, Lowell; and niece, Loretta.
Graveside services will be held in the Chapel at Oakland Cemetery at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Rev. Curtis L. Johnson Jr. of New Jerusalem Baptist Church will officiate. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is assisting the family with arrangements.
