Glenda Darlene Slaymaker

Glenda Darlene Slaymaker ran into the arms of her savior on March 30th, 2023 at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with cancer. Glenda was born to Jack Stiltner and Bertha Rogers (Blankenship) on July 13, 1954, in Grundy, VA.

After graduating from Clyde High School in 1972 Glenda began working at Whirlpool in Clyde, OH where she retired after 40 years. Glenda joined Harvest Baptist Temple in 1974 where she was a Sunday School and Junior Church teacher for nearly 24 years. Later in life Glenda embarked on a new journey as a lunch lady for the Clyde Green Springs Schools, where she later retired in May of 2021.

Glenda was not only a warrior, but a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and competitor. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Glenda. In Glenda's early days she traveled many states as a marathon runner. Prior to Glenda's passing she was inducted into the Fremont Elite Runners Club Hall Of Fame. As the years went by one of her favorite things was to share her love for running with her grandchildren. When Glenda wasn't on a run you could find her taking a stroll on the bike trail or walking the quarry. Glenda enjoyed reading a book in her gazebo or putting her green thumb to use. Glenda never failed to find happiness in her daily activities. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met.

Glenda is survived by her husband, Randy Slaymaker, whom she married March 17, 1973; daughter, Nicole (Todd) Gish of Clyde; grandchildren: Kennedi (Drake) Camarata, Bradie Gish, and Malia Gish; great-grandson, Casen James Camarata; siblings: Pam Wagner of Clyde, Melody (Richard) Waggoner of Fremont, Ron (Judy) Stiltner of Clyde, Ed Stiltner of Clyde, and Tim (Melody) Stiltner of Clyde; step-siblings: Tina Mosley, Dave Rogers of Clyde, and Rick Rogers of Fremont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glenda is preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Rogers (Blankenship) and her brother, Gregory Stiltner.

Friends will be received on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 3-7pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 12pm, noon, at Harvest Baptist Temple, 1022 S Main St, Clyde, OH 43410.

Memorial donations may be made to the family for any outstanding remaining medical expenses or to the Fremont Elite Runners Club, PO Box 202, Fremont, OH 43420.
