William Henry Moore Sr.

William Henry Moore Sr., 89, Sandusky, transitioned peacefully to his Heavenly Father, at his residence on Saturday, March 25, 2023, surrounded by his family.

William, affectionately known as Henry or Mr. Moore was born on March 30, 1933, to the late Harris and Maggie Moore in Lauderdale, MS.

The youngest of four children, he attended Meridian Public Schools till the third grade when he had to go to work in the cotton fields. He worked in the fields until his late teens when he moved to Sandusky. Henry met his first wife, Augusta Marie Rollison Moore, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 till being honorable discharged in 1955. He then worked for G & C Foundry and Brown Industry for several years.

Marrying his first wife, Augusta in 1955, and to that union eight children were born. He was a member of First Ministries Church, Sandusky, where his daughter E. Bonnie Grove is the pastor, and he was a great supporter of her ministry. Henry also liked fishing, hunting, and playing cards with his crew.

He is survived by his children, Pastor Ernestine "E. Bonnie" Grove, William H. Moore Jr., Johnny H. "Heckmo" Moore, Jeffrey E. Moore, Randy (Brenda) Moore, Bridget Seavers all of Sandusky, Laurie (Alphius) White Jr., Huber Heights, OH, Trudy (Earl) Conway, Dayton, OH, Eddie Rae, MS, Lisa Short, Los Angeles, CA, and Mary Bell, Buffalo, NY; special daughter, Joyce Pace Caffey; sixty grandchildren; eighty-six great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren, special nieces, Linda Williams, Meridian. MS, and Bonnie Williams, Youngstown, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Beatrice Moore DuBose; son, Timothy Rollison; siblings, Mary, Richard, and Eula; twin granddaughter, Tameka in infancy; four great grandsons, and others.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
