Glenn Lowell Hoppe, age 89 of Clyde, Ohio, passed away on April 10, 2023. Glenn, fondly known as Hoppe, was born to William and Alzena Hoppe on June 26, 1933, in Sandusky, Ohio.
Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: William Hoppe Jr., Gene Hoppe, and Richard and Wayne Brightman; sisters: Alice Denhart, Alzena Meinert, and Shirley Galindo.
Glenn is survived by his sister, Carol Pitts.
Glenn has four surviving children; Tim (Jackie) Hoppe, Walter, Keith (Karin) Hoppe and Lori (Mike) Pierce. Glenn is also survived by his wife, Judy, of 62 years. Glenn and Judy have 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandsons.
Glenn enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman. He led a simple life, as fishing with a cooler of Pabst Blue Ribbon was a highlight for him. He enjoyed cooking and eating bluegill and walleye as much as he loved catching them. Loved ones would agree, no one can cook fish quite like Hoppe. Glenn, a hard-worker, retired from Ford Motor Company in 1997. For several years after, he enjoyed his morning coffee time with his fellow retirees. Glenn was known for his ornery grin and witty comments to those he loved. He was proud of his bald head as others showed their affection by a simple rub or a kiss on his head. Toward the end of Glenn's life, he embraced the high-fives from his great-grandsons and enjoyed watching the energy and chaos they would bring to his home.
Glenn's family has been blessed with many cherished moments and he will truly be missed. To honor Glenn, his family will remain close and hold dearly their fond memories of their dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa!
Friends will be received on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 4-7:00pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00am, also at the funeral home.
