Carol Popke

Carol Popke, 74, residing in Monroeville, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Countryside Manor after a lengthy illness.

She was born on September 26, 1948 in Montana to the late Emmett and Lillian Miller.

She was employed as a Machine Operator at New Departure in Sandusky and retired in 2008 after 30 years of service. When she was younger, Carol enjoyed playing softball. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Popke, whom she married on November 28, 1992. She is also survived by her sons, Len Heagney of Athens, Ohio and Brian Heagney of Huron, Ohio; step-sons, Brett (Christine) Popke of Huron, Ohio and Todd (Phyllis) Popke of Jupiter, Florida; daughter-in-law, Michelle Popke of Jupiter, FL; grandchildren, Carol, Ashley, Jessica, Wyatt, McKenzie, Katie, Emily, Brenn, Alexander, Megan, Zachary, Olivia, Michael, Amanda and Derrick; brother, Emmett Miller of Loveland, CO; her beloved Westie "Nelson"; and numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Miller, and stepson, Kevin Popke.

Friends may call on Sunday, April 23 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1607 East Perkins Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 24, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory with Deacon Phil Dinovo presiding. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Castalia, Ohio.
