Alfred L. "Lee" Ferguson

Alfred L. "Lee" Ferguson passed away at his home after a long and well fought battle with cancer.

Lee was born September 7, 1946 to George G. and Mildred (Parrish) Ferguson.

He attended Willard High School and joined the Army in 1963. He served proudly in Viet Nam in 1966-67, as part of the 109 Quartermaster Air Delivery attached to the 101 Airborne Division and was honorably discharged in 1968 with a rank of Specialist E5.

Lee was a devoted employee of the Norfolk Southern Railroad from 1969 until 2005. He was an avid golfer for many years and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1238. He was also a devoted and motivated member of Bellevue Friday Night Alcoholics Anonymous.

Lee is survived by his wife Bernadette (Klein) Ferguson, whom he married in 1983. Sons: Timothy (CJ) Ferguson of Bellevue, Todd (Bernida Collins) Ferguson of Willard, Christopher (Lisa) Ferguson of Bellevue, Robert J. (Kendra) Smithson of Willard, and daughter, Jessica (Kennith) Butterfield of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

One sister, Carolyn (Charles) Ousley of Florida; and brothers Lowell (Annette) Ferguson of Denver, Colorado and James (Marian) Ferguson of Elyria. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by brothers: Earl, Bobby Wayne, and Garland Ferguson and sisters: Linda Poole and Cheryl Bundren.

Visitation will be 2:00-6:00pm Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the Auxter Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1105 Castalia St, Bellevue. His funeral service will be 11:00am Friday, June 23 at the funeral home. Military graveside services will follow in Bellevue City Cemetery with the Bellevue VFW, American Legion, and Marine Corps League providing the honors.
