Sandra M. Klingelsmith

Sandra M. Klingelsmith, 81, residing in Huron, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

Sandi was born on August 26, 1941 in Buffalo, NY to the late Eric T. and Arline O. (Harris) Tornquist.

Sandi graduated from Capital University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education where she served as the Sigma Beta Chi President, and then went on to receive her Masters degree from Bowling Green State University. She began her 30-year teaching career in Columbus, OH, then taught in Norwalk, OH and part-time in Monroeville, OH. Sandi retired from Western Reserve Schools in 2000 and continued to substitute teach until she was 77 years of age. Sandi was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Huron where she was a part of the Women's Circle, Altar Guild, and the women's bible study group. She was also the Vice President of the Women's Jaycees in Norwalk, the Civic Club in Huron, the Huron Eagles, and the Daughters of the Eastern Star. In her spare time, Sandi was an avid reader and she enjoyed art and cooking classes. She loved her family and friends, her church, and was also a great supporter of animals.

Sandi is survived by her daughters, Heidi K. (Michael) Oglesbee of Huron and Kelly L. Klingelsmith of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Zachary E. (Chloe) Daikawa of Toledo, OH, Cassidy S. Daikawa of Huron, Logan R. (Constanza) Dabney of Lonetree, CO, and Cameron M. Dabney of Toledo, OH; brother, Gary B. (Linda) Tornquist of Tonawanda, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Sandi is preceded in death by her son, Eric B. Klingelsmith.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 10:00 am until the time of Memorial Services at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 930 Main St., Huron, OH 44839 with Pastor Stacy Lauer-Scovanner presiding. Private burial will take place at a later date in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
