Caroll "Buggs" L. Butler

Caroll "Buggs" L. Butler, 68, of Wakeman, passed away Sun., July 16, 2023 surrounded by his family at University Hospital, Cleveland, after a lengthy illness.

He was born Apr. 15, 1955 in Norwalk to Leon and Gladys (Wheeler) Butler.

Buggs graduated from Western Reserve High School as well as EHOVE. He was a successful business owner of Asphalt Sealers for 19 years and Butler Construction for 21 years. He also worked for Erie Blacktop and most recently for Prestige Pools. He was a member of the Wakeman Eagles, Wakeman Sno-ballers for 50 years, and Wakeman Congregational Church. He was a Wakeman Township trustee for 18 years, serving his community during that time by donating his own time and equipment for many projects; not limited to the building of the trail at Dalton Park as well as building the township building and salt bin.

In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, snowmobiling, tinkering around the farm, collecting and working on tractors, gardening, and his Labor Day family camp out.

Buggs is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda (Bowman) Butler, whom he married on Aug. 10, 1974. He is also survived by his four daughters, Stephanie (David) Wetzel, Allison (Marc) Kauble, Autumn (Seth) Thomas, and Ashley (Jeff) Kinney; 13 grandchildren, Lane, Kaden, Maylee, Ashlyn, Layken, Landen, Adah, Jude, Mason, Claire, Corynne, Myra, Hudson; brother, Dick (Linda) Keith; sister, Karen (John) Grills; brother-in-law, Steve Tock; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives, as well as leaving behind his favorite dogs, Gracie, Molly, and Annie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Tock; mother and father-in-law, Harold and Edith Bowman; brother-in-law, Dean Bowman; and niece, Stacey Bowman

Friends may call on Fri., July 21, 2023 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Toft Funeral Home, Wakeman Chapel, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday beginning at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Rico presiding. Burial will follow in Wakeman Cemetery.
