Margaret "Marge" Ann Mitro

Margaret "Marge" Ann Mitro, 88, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully, Friday July 21, 2023, at home.

Marge was born on May 22, 1935, in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Anna Gorrie Ostarticki and Andrew Ostarticki.

While raising her four children, she returned to school and in 1979 she earned a bachelor's degree in business from Kean University in New Jersey. In 1982, her husband's career caused the family to move to Norwalk, where she put her degree to use as owner of the local craft store, Handicraft Headquarters.

Marge's faith was very important to her. She was a devoted member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, where she served as a eucharistic minister and lector. She was a PSR teacher for 30 years and often commented that her former students were now having children, although she did not have the opportunity to teach them. Marge enjoyed singing and joined the choir at St. George Byzantine Catholic Church in Linden, New Jersey when she was 19. She continued to sing in the church choir at St. Paul Church in Norwalk.

In her spare time, Marge enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and crossword puzzles. She was a skilled seamstress and sewed clothes for her children including her daughter's wedding dress.

Marge is survived by her 4 children, Ruthanne Phillips of Acton, CA, George E. Mitro of Fort Worth, Texas, Donna Mitro of Norwalk, and Mary (Brian) Leuschel of Berea; 4 grandchildren, George, Jessica, Meagan, and Marissa; 3 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Richard (Anne) Ostarticki.

In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George Mitro, who passed in 2020.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Marge's honor can be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857 or to its St. Vincent de Paul Society.
