John Edward "Lump" Grant, Sr.

John Edward "Lump" Grant, Sr., 62, of Sandusky, passed away Wed., Sept. 6, 2023 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after fighting a lengthy illness.

He was born on Jan. 14, 1961 in Sandusky to John and Elsie Grant.

John graduated from Sandusky High School in 1980. He worked for Sandusky Dressed Beef. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to jazz, spending time with his kids and grandkids, and working on various projects. He would called himself a Jack of all trades.

John is survived by his children, Jameeliah A Grant, of Reynoldsburg, Shamion Hall, of Fostoria, Ameeliah L Grant, of Sandusky, Cameeliah (Tarrence Hills) Grant, of Sandusky, step-son, Jordan Christopher Cranston, of Sandusky, Jeremiah William Cranston, of Fremont, and John Edward Grant, Jr. of Sandusky; sister, Lisa Marie Grant, of Sandusky; step-brothers, Alfred L. Hinton, Sr. of Canal Winchester, and Timothy M. Hinton, of Amherst; step-sisters, Stephanie D. Hinton, of Sandusky, Lynda F. Easley, of Toledo, Pamela A. Hardin, of Sandusky, Alfreda L. Culpepper, of Sandusky, and Cassandra S. Garza, of Houston; special friends, ex-wife, Angeline Grant (Walter Leon Jackson), of Sandusky, Anna Cranston, of Sandusky, Karen Hall, of Fostoria, and Mitch Wilson, of Coldwater, Miss.; best friend, Stanley Chaney; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with one on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives.

In addition to his parents, John R. Grant and Elsie "Jameeliah Shabazz" Jones, he was preceded in death by his son, Julius Christopher Cranston; cousin, Johnny Ray McCoy; granddaughter, Tyonna Phillips; and grandsons, Davareion Randleman and Calvin Churchwell, Jr.

Friends may call on Fri., Sept. 15 from 11 A.M. - 12 P.M. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Services will begin at 12 P.M. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
