Philip D. "Phil" Spears

Philip D. "Phil" Spears, 65, died unexpectedly due to a lengthy illness he had of Huntington's Disease on October 4, 2023, at his residence.

He was born November 17, 1957, in Sandusky, OH, the son of the late Floyd and Ethel (Boyd) Spears.

Phil attended Perkins High School from 1973 1975. Following school, he returned to Louisa, Kentucky, for a while, where he would work and have his two children with his former wife, Glenda before returning and settling in Sandusky, Ohio. He was married for 25 years to Vickie Spears until recently when they divorced. Phil retired from Ohio Veterans Home after 26 years due to his illness.

Phil loved riding his Harley Davidson bike, playing in his bowling and pool leagues, singing country music at karaoke while drinking a few Bud Lights, traveling to see different places, going to Las Vegas every year with Vickie on their anniversary for 20 years, going fishing, especially with his son Philip and his family down in Kentucky. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family whenever possible. Phil attended NorthPointe Baptist Church of Sandusky.

Phil is survived by his son, Philip (Alisha) Spears Jr. and daughter, Angela (Wade) Lemaster, both of Louisa, KY; two step daughters, Angela (Martin) Chaffee, Norwalk, OH; and April (Terry) Patrick of Bethlehem, GA; eleven grandchildren, Tyler Spears, Ashley Spears, Katy Spears, Mandy Lemaster, Jack Meadows, Shirley May Meadows, Brandon McCauley, Brittany McCauley, Bailey McCauley, Larry Chaffee, Gabriel Hopkins Jr., and Tenisha Hopkins; five great grandchildren; brothers, Charles Spears, and Brian (Patricia) Spears both of Sandusky, OH; sisters, Karen (Richard) Clapp, Castalia, OH;: many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Phil is preceded in death by three brothers, Rick, Danny, and Bobby Spears, and one sister, Kathy Copeland

Friends may call on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until funeral services at 5:00

p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave, Sandusky. Pastor Wally Gilbert, will officiate.
