Eleanor Carol Perkins (Garwood) Cherry

Eleanor Carol Perkins (Garwood) Cherry, 89, of Monroeville, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at her home.

She was born February 21, 1934, in Scott Depot, West Virginia.

Eleanor was magical in her ability to make friends and family feel welcome at home, be it at the "Cottage" on their boat, or the family farm.

Eleanor was a member of the Peru Farm Women's Club, Lutheran Women's Bible Study, and the Red Hat Society. She was the "Cherry Pie Queen" and was talented at arranging flowers. She worked diligently on the history of her beloved Mitawanga Community, contributing her own stories and pictures she found archived at Hayes Memorial in Fremont, Ohio.

Survivors include husband of 59 years, Lonnie Cherry, of Monroeville, Ohio; son, David (Kim) Garwood, of Madison, Indiana; grandsons, Rich Dewey of Monroeville, Ohio, and Kenneth Dewey of West Hartland, Connecticut; niece, Karen Wilson Dorsey; nephew, Thomas Wilson; and so many other nieces, nephews and many friends; brothers in-law, Dave, Melvin, Wayne, and Lenord; sisters-in-law, Carol and Celia;

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Marie Dewey; sisters, Mary Jane Wilson, Lyda Lou (Maytham) Olsen, Ruby, Alice, Betty, Cleo, Helene Perkins; brothers, J.E., William, Eugene, E. Alan, Robert, and Henry.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Scott Cemetery on Huron Avery Rd., beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106, or the donor's choice.
