Regina M. Braden

Regina M. Braden, age 90, of Milan, died peacefully at home on November 27, 2023, after a brief illness.

Regina was the youngest of eight children born on June 24, 1933, to George and Susanna (Bielz) Lierenz at the family farmhouse in Bronson Township. She attended Bronson-Norwalk School and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1951.

After working at Rotary Printing, she became the first pastor's secretary for St. Peter Lutheran Church for 13 years. Later, she served the community at the Huron County Auditor's Office for eight years and the Huron County Treasurer's Office for two years before retiring. She had many long-time friends with whom she corresponded, enjoyed her pinochle club, and was active in St Peter Lutheran church women's group and bible study circles for many years. Being homebound in her later years did not stop her from enjoying weekly church services as she was a regular listener to St Peter services broadcasted on the radio. Over the years, Regina had many hobbies, including counted-cross stitch needlework, reading, and jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She collected angel figurines and Danielle Steele novels. She enjoyed watching golf and was an enthusiastic fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns football teams. Most of all, she loved spending time with her large family.

She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Eugene Hopkins of Wakeman, Jo Anne and Arthur Chaffee of Milan, and Regina "Gina" and Michael Dobberstein of Brentwood, Tennessee. She was stepmother to Peggy Gaddis of Kentucky.

She was a loving grandmother to Audra (Brian) Lesch of Lewis Center, Ohio, Grant (Rachelle) Chaffee of Luckey, Ohio, Renee (Daniel) Leber of Berlin Heights, Anthony Dobberstein of Brentwood, and Mary Margaret "Maggie" Dobberstein of New Paltz, New York.
Her eight great-grandchildren loved her, including Lakelyn and Bayden Lesch, Mason, MacKenzie and Maxton Chaffee, and Jameson, Barrett and Ariya Leber.

Her family also includes her step-grandsons, Dennis and Scott Hopkins of Wakeman, and numerous step-great-grandchildren. She has many nieces, nephews, and God-children who will remember her fondly.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Keith Jameson, whom she met at her brother-in-law's baseball game and married in 1953. She was widowed in 1976 and married Stanley Braden in 1982 until his death in 2018. Regina was the last of her family's generation. Previously departed loved ones also include her seven siblings and their spouses, brothers Rev. Martin and Stella Lierenz, George and Sarah Lierenz, John and Lynne Lierenz, Karl and Janet Lierenz, and sisters Susanna and Richard Stanley, Katharina and Allen Evert, and Adela and Harry Gordon.

A memorial service will be held at St Peter Lutheran Church at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Interment will be immediately after the service in the St. Peter Lutheran Church Scattering Garden.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or St Peter Lutheran Church in Norwalk in lieu of flowers
