Sydney (Ellsworth) Hadley, age 77, of Port Clinton, died peacefully Friday, June 8, 2012 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center.

She was born January 18, 1935 in Toledo to the late Elida June and Verne Ellsworth. She graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Toledo. She taught, and substituted, for several school systems over her education career. Her last job was as a tutor for special needs students at EHOVE.

She was a talented artist, and an actress, appearing in plays at Harlequins in Sandusky. Every Halloween for several years she made an appearance in some English classes at Norwalk High School, and performed the speech from the witches in Shakespeare's "Macbeth". She dressed up as the Easter bunny for children who were in child care at EHOVE. She was a founding member of Shalom United Church of Christ, Norwalk, and later became a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.

She is survived by her four children, Glenn (Debbie) Hadley, Ann (Eric) Gastier, Brian (Becky) Hadley and Catharine Hadley; grandchildren, Nick Hadley, Helena and William Gastier, Kirk and Tori Hadley; sister, Carole Denise (Charles) Kiskiras and their daughters, Ariel and Chloe Kiskiras; other nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Danny Hadley and Carter (Barb) Hadley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Lee Hadley in 2011; sister, Marcia Ellsworth; twin infant sons; in-laws, Walter and Helen Hadley; and brother-in-law, Thomas (Gayle) Hadley.

Friends may gather on Thursday June 14, 2012 at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Milan, Ohio from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney will officiate. Interment at the church cemetery.
