He was born July 31, 1927 in Preble County, OH and was a 1945 graduate of Lanier High School, West Alexandria, OH. After high school, Glenn was accepted in the V5 US Navy Aviation Program and was sent to Sewanee, TN and Louisville, KY for Naval Officers Candidate Corps, then to Great Lakes Naval Academy. This program was discontinued by the Navy and then Glenn returned home. The draft was still on, so Glenn enlisted in the Army and was sent to Korea, where he served with the 13th Engineers Construction Battalion from 1946-1948. After release from the Army, Glenn enrolled at Capital University, Columbus, OH and graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in history and mathematics, and also a degree in Elemantary Education. Glenn met Doris while at Capital University and married June 10, 1951. That fall they moved to Sandusky to begin their teaching careers for the Sandusky Board of Education. Glenn was a mathematics teacher at Jackson Jr. High and retired in 1979.

In 1955, Glenn became a Confirmed Member of Zion Lutheran Church, and later served as a member of its church council. He taught the Bethel Bible Study Series, was an adult Sunday School teacher, and led many other Bible studies. He was a senior choir member for over 30 years, and loved singing in Zion's choir. He was a member of the Senior Men's Fellowship, a bowling league, and helped with Sandusky Schools' Athletic Programs.

During the summer months, Glenn was awarded several fellowships in Math and Science. He spent one summer at Ohio Wesleyan, another at Denison University and a third at The University of the South in Columbus, SC. Other summers, he worked at Esmond Dairy, Cedar Point Cash Control and Keys Golf Course. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball in his younger days, and golfing with his buddies as long as he was able.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris J. (Koehler) Suman; daughter, Kathleen (John) Essex of Sandusky; son, Dr. Michael W. Suman of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter, Bethany S. Essex of Marion; and a grandson, Andrew (Becca) Essex; great-granddaughter, Lily Essex of Reynoldsburg, OH; nephew, Mark Suman of Las Vegas, NV; nieces, Gretchen (Koehler) Mote and Christine (Koehler) Sellers, both of Columbus; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Koehler of Columbus.
