John B Hoy age 76 of Bellevue, passed to his home in heaven on Thursday, October 25 at the Bellevue Hospital, following extended illnesses. His determination and positive outlook inspired many around him. He showed us that miracles do happen and reminded us to appreciate every day.

He was born in Canton on Oct 21, 1936, to Joseph and Alice (Buchheit) Hoy. From the age of four, he and his twin brother were raised at Flat Rock Children's Home. He was a Thompson High School alumnus, and a proud graduate of The Ohio State University. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Flat Rock.

After beginning his career farming at the OARDC in Wooster, Ohio, he was called back to Flat Rock to manage the farms at the Children's Home. His career changed course when he became the farm loan officer at First National Bank, Bellevue. His life's work took one more turn when he earned his teaching certification. He taught at EHOVE, other area vocational schools, NCESC, and for the Bellevue City Schools. He cherished his time with the students in the ag program, as a tutor at BSHS, and as a substitute teacher throughout the district. He also remained dedicated to the Flat Rock Care Center, serving as a care provider and volunteer.

John enjoyed fishing with friends and attending Bellevue sports events, especially those in which his grandchildren participated. His red Cadillac convertible was his pride and joy. He was a member of both the Bellevue Elks and Eagles. In years past, he spent several summers coaching Bellevue Junior Pony League baseball teams.

He is survived by his four sons - Tim (Heather) of Sandusky, Duane of Hollywood, CA, Doug (Cindy) of York Township, and Steve (Christine) of Westland, MI.; seven grandchildren - Ellen, Jared and Kevin Hoy, Tegan Wood, Serena, Carlotta, and Steven Hoy; one great-grandson - Elijah Stamper; one sister- Norma Jones of Louisville, OH; and his former wife - Loretta Hoy, Bellevue.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a special uncle and aunt, Earl and Helen Buchheit.
