Edward L. Thompson

Edward L. Thompson, 78 years of age, and a resident of Sandusky, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Stein Hospice, Sandusky following a lengthy illness.

Edward was born April 30, 1934 in Wayne Co., Kentucky and was raised and lived in Somerset, Kentucky until moving to Lorain County, Ohio in 1961. Sandusky has been his home for the last 10 years.

Edward was employed at the Ford Motor Company in Avon for 22 years retiring in 1996 as an inspector. Edward loved to sing gospel and bluegrass music. His hobbies included restoring vintage automobiles and traveling with his family.

Survivors include his wife Trulla Thompson (nee: Turner) of ten years; sons Ronnie L. Thompson (Aixa) of Lorain and David D. Thompson (Kelly) of Vermilion; daughter Caroline Raines (Joseph) of Elyria; step daughters Marquetta Salisbury (Walt), Becky Watson (Rob), Brenda Smith (companion Jimmy Myers), Machelle Edwards and Dawn Fenwick (Kevin) all of Castalia; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; sixteen step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; brothers Robert (Joyce) Thompson of Wayne Co. Kentucky, Vernon (Marilyn) Thompson of Sullivan, and James (Lynn) Thompson of Oberlin; sisters Lucille Troxtell of Science Hill, Kentucky, Lillie Bolin (Paul) of Somerset, Kentucky.

Edward was preceded in death by his first wife Jeanie Thompson (nee: Jones) on October 19, 2002; his parents Ephraim and Linda (nee: Jones) Thompson; sisters Hazel Hall, Iva Lea Thompson and Rosetta Thompson.

Friends may call Sunday Nov. 4th, 2012, from 2 until 6 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst and Monday Nov. 5th. from 10 until the time of services at 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at North Lake Missionary Baptist Church 323 North Lake St., South Amherst, Ohio 44001. The Rev. Walt Salisbury his son in law of the Church of God in Sandusky will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
