Lacy Kariel Davis

Lacy Kariel Davis, 65, of Sandusky, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in his home.

He was born on October 28, 1947 in Jonesboro, Louisiana, son of the late Arthur Lee and Annie Belle (Frazier) Davis. He was baptized at an early age when he joined the New Prosperity Baptist Church in Clay, Louisiana. During his teenage and early adult years, he attended the New Galilee Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Louisiana. In recent years Lacy was affiliated with Jehovah's Witnesses.

Lacy was united in holy matrimony to Evelyn Victoria Malone on August 13, 1969. He was a loving husband and father, a wise teacher of life principles, and an excellent provider for his family. He was a proud graduate of Grambling State University, where he accepted a football scholarship and achieved his bachelor's degree in Sociology. Following college, he moved to Washington D.C. where he worked as an apartment manager. He relocated with his family to Sandusky and became employed by Ford Motor Company, retiring from upper-level management in 2008 after 37 years of service.

For many years he was a member of the City of Sandusky Human Relations Commission. He served, for a time, as the commission chairman and served on other advisory committees.

Lacy was a sports enthusiast, but his greatest love was golf. He spent most of his free time golfing around the country, and he garnered many tournament awards and accolades. He also loved fishing with his friends and family, especially his younger brother, David.

Lacy is survived by his wife, Evelyn Victoria (Malone) Davis; daughter, Charlotte Denise (Tony) Davis-Martin, of Palm Springs, California; son, Justin Kariel Davis, of Lorain, Ohio; brother, David Lawrence (Gloria) Davis, of Jonesboro, Lousiana; sisters, Gloria Ann (Jimmy) Dunkley, of Monroe, Lousiana and Sara Veronica Davis, of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Justin Kameron Martin and Laci Victoria Martin; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Earl Davis (in infancy) and Lester Charles Davis.

Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. on Monday, December 3, 2012 in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 12 Noon on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Condolences may be shared at www.toftfh.com.
