Victor "Vic" Hammons

Victor "Vic" Hammons, 81, a resident of the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky died Thursday evening, December 20, 2012 in the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.

He was born April 13, 1931 in Manchester, Ky., and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Vic had worked for the Cincinnati Gear Company and at the Chrysler Plant in Detroit, Michigan prior to his retirement. He attended the Trinity Temple in Milan, Ohio.

He is survived by three brothers: Kenneth (Doris Jean) Hammons of Blanchester, OH., John B. (Mallie) Hammons of Wilmington, OH., Vernon (Paula Marie) Hammons of Berlin Heights, two sisters: Frances Jean King of Huron and Loretta "Ann" Fleming of Sandusky and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Green & Allie (Gilbert) Hammons, two sisters: Lela Smallwood and Ruby Howard.

Friends may call from 12:30 PM until time of Military Service at 1:30 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2012 in the Giffin Chapel of the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Chaplain Paul Birmingham and Pastor Jack Kiskaden will officiate. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery.
