Callie Belinda Evans

Callie Belinda Evans, 57, Sandusky, departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 18, 2013 in Firelands Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.

Callie was born on October 4, 1955 in Sandusky to the union of Corby and Callie Keys, Sr. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1974, and later graduated from Miami Valley College, Dayton, earning a bachelor's degree in nursing.

Callie was former employee of Stein Hospice, City Service Taxi, where she worked as a dispatcher, Firelands Regional Medical Center, as a registered nurse, and Briarfield Nursing Home, Sandusky. She was known for her outstanding personality and her spirit of care and commitment to patients she served.

She was a member of Emmanuel Temple Church, under the pastorate of Bishop Rufus G.W. Sanders. Callie was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost on March 17, 1984.

She served on the nurse's guild, Daughters of Emmanuel, and Young Ladies of Distinction. Callie loved her family and church. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She just loved food...her favorite foods were any foods.

She leaves to mourn her passing, husband, Jerry Evans, Sr., Sandusky; daughters, Cassandra and Victoria, both of Sandusky, Elizabeth Evans, serving in the U.S. Army in Washington State; sons, Jerry Evans, Jr. and Daniel Evans, both of Sandusky; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; devoted mother, Callie F. Keys, Sandusky; brothers, Joe L. Keys, Kentucky, Kemmes Keys, Sr., Derrick Keys, and Corby L. Keys, Jr., all of Sandusky; sister, Angela (Glenn) Alford, North Carolina; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elder Corby L. Keys, Sr.; grandson, Marcus D. Evans; brothers, Joe Arry Keys and Joe Curtis Keys, paternal grandparents, Donnie and Hester Keys; maternal grandparents, Liley and Mae Erma "Mama Liley" Keys; and a nephew, Kenneth.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon, in Emmanuel Temple Church, 128 E. Adams St., Sandusky. Bishop Rufus G.W. Sanders will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is assisting the family with arrangements.
